Vienna State Opera for children
The Vienna State Opera endeavours to build a loyal young audience for music theatre. To this end an expanding offer specially for children has been created.

Children's operas in the mobilkom austria children's opera tent
The mobilkom austria children's opera tent on the roof terrace of the Vienna State Opera is a success story in itself. Thousands upon thousands of children have rushed to see the numerous popular performances. Since the opening of the mobilkom austria children's opera tent the children's cultural landscape can no longer be imagined without it. The following works have been performed since 1999:

The Magic Flute for children
Two performances of one-hour each in the sets of the Vienna Opera ball. This offer is exclusively for 9 and 10 year-old children (4th and 5th school grade) who can attend these performances free of charge. The administration is handled by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Culture. Registration and ticket assignment are handled without exception by the Regional School Boards of Austria and the Vienna city school board. Escorts may only be teachers. At the end of November a decree will be issued to all schools from the city school council. Only at this time can Head teachers of 4th class primary and 1st class secondary order tickets in writing. Prior registrations are not possible.
The first MAGIC FLUTE FOR CHILDREN in February, 2003, was received enthusiastically by 7000 children.

Children’s ticket contingent for every performance
A maximum of 100 tickets, but no fewer than 25, are allocated to children below the age of 14 for every performance except premières and 31st December (ID card required). These tickets can be purchased at a flat rate of € 15.- (regardless of the price category selected), and are available from the ticket offices the day ticket sales for the desired performance commence. Written ticket orders may also be made from the Austrian provinces and abroad.
Please note: You will get a receipt when you purchase children's tickets from the ticket offices for opera performances. This receipt must be exchanged for an admission ticket at the box office at least 20 minutes before the performance when the child comes to the opera.
Souvenir articles for children may be purchased in the ARCADIA opera
shop (Kärtnerstrasse 40, 1010 Vienna) or in the Richard Wagner Salon in the main house during the intervals.
